Swami Atmananda Udasin
The Swami is a teacher in non-dual spirituality and the Head Monk of Ajatananda Ashram, an interreligious monastic ashram at the bank of the Ganga (Ganges) in Rishikesh, North India.
His personal teaching focuses on, "All there is is Consciousness."
At his ashram is a sign: "Many Paths--One Truth."
He spends parts of many winters at Ramana Ashram in Tiruvannamalai
at the base of Ramana Maharshi's beloved mountain, Arunachala.
Ordained a monk in the Eastern Christian tradition, he spent several years in the Near-East including four years in silence and solitude in the Judean hills near Jerusalem. In 1997 he settled down in India as a hermit in the Himalayan foothills. Later on he was initiated into sannyasa (Indian monastic renunciation) by his spiritual master, a contemporary Indian sage with an ancient lineage. In 2003, he felt a call to move to a house at Tapovan (Rishikesh) and was central to the development of this abode as Ajatananda Ashram.
Along with his beloved spiritual master, the great Advaitic sages Sri Bhaghavan Ramana Maharshi, and Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, for the last twenty-five years he has also been deeply inspired by the lives of Swami Abhishiktananda, a pioneer in interreligious dialogue (and a friend of H.M.L. Poonjaji--"Papaji"), and his realized disciple, Swami Ajatananda Saraswati.
A native of Belgium, Swami Atmananda Udasin studied Theology, Indian Philosophy and Comparative Religion in Louvain, Paris, and Jerusalem.
